1930s Fashion

The Iconic 1930s fashion is perhaps the most glamorous fashion in recent history. This is usually the decade that is referred to when thinking about “vintage glam” or “Old Hollywood Glam.”

The 1930s was sandwiched right between the extravagance of the 1920s and the World War of the 1940s. It was also right during the height of the Great Depression—and old Hollywood movie stars were becoming a fashion force of their own.

As a result, 1930s fashion trends are skewed with an interesting combination of conservative casual wear like feminine day dresses, wide leg pants, and suits of the 1930s, to ultra-glam evening wear. 1930s clothing saw the return of the natural waist after the boxy styles of the previous decade, longer hair also swung back into style, after the fashionable bobs of the 1920s.

Famous 1930s fashion icons included Marlene Dietrich, Joan Crawford, Greta Garbo, Wallis Simpson, Coco Chanel, Jean Harlow, Katharine Hepburn, Shirley Temple, Bette Davis and more!
